Atelier 21

Do you want to create a personalized house number, an image, a coaster or a tile insert ? Your only limitation is the 20 x 20 cm size of the square shape. This is the perfect course to learn the basics of making a mosaic. We will briefly discuss the effects of shapes and colours as well as the flow of the background. As it is meant to be a hands-on class, we will quickly start with breaking tiles (or smalti), cutting out shapes and mosaicking curves. After that you are ready to start with the mosaic design of your dreams. I can assure you that there are lots of different colours to pick from here, including gold. With other words, you can let your imagination run wild.

This course is divided in 1 1/2 days. On the first day we will glue down the whole mosaic so it can set before we grout our piece on the second day.

CHF 200.- for both days

​

Investment includes: weatherproof base (so your mosaic can be mounted outdoors), glue and grout, protective goggles and the use of all the tools and materials to complete the mosaic. Drinks and cake for the breaks. Please bring something for lunch on the first day, as there are no shops nearby.

The number of participants is limited to 8. You do not need to pay in advance but if you do, your spot is guaranteed for the desired date, as I work on a first-in, first-served basis. You can pay by either bank transfer, credit card or paypal. In case of a cancellation, you will be refunded the full amount. All I need is a written notice within 5 days of the beginning of the workshop.
